Asset Lifecycle

Every device accounted for, from first assignment to final return.

Serialized assets with owners, assignees, and status history, plus returns, trade-ins, and retirement on the same record.

The problem

Devices disappear between the spreadsheet and the storage closet.

Without a serialized record, organizations lose track of assignments, returns go uninspected, and retired devices leave no history.

  • Assignments drift

Spreadsheets fall behind as devices change hands, until nobody is sure who has which device, or which SIM is in it.

  • Returns go unchecked

Devices come back with no record of whether they were wiped, unlocked, or complete, and go back into circulation anyway.

  • Retired devices vanish

When a device is retired or recycled, its history goes with it, and so does the answer to where it ended up.

How Claddio addresses it

One serialized record that follows the device.

Each asset keeps its identifiers, owner, SIM, and status history, so returns, trade-ins, and retirement add to the record instead of starting a new one.

Without a serialized record

  • Asset lists drift from reality.
  • SIMs and devices get separated.
  • Returns arrive without checks.
  • Old devices sit unused.
  • Retired devices vanish from records.

With Claddio

  • Assets carry their identifiers and are updated with every status change.
  • SIM associations are recorded by full ICCID and updated as devices move.
  • Inspection records data wipe, activation lock, and management lock checks.
  • Buyback and trade-in with questionnaires, estimated and final values, and revised offers.
  • Retired and Recycled statuses keep the full history.

On the record

From receiving to return, one record.

The same asset holds the identifiers checked at receiving, the people and SIM assigned to it, and the inspection that happens when it comes back.

Receiving

Assets start with the right SKU.

A device becomes an asset when Claddio's operations team receives it against a purchase order. Its IMEI is checked against the SKU on that order first, so the record is right from its first entry.

  • Assets created at receiving, linked to the purchase order they arrived on
  • Wrong SKUs automatically detected from the IMEI's TAC and corrected with a single confirmation
  • IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 must identify the same model
  • Every cellular IMEI must pass TAC verification before receiving completes
  • The same check on asset CSV imports and buybacks

Serialized inventory

One timeline per device.

See where a device has been and who has had it. Status, contact, and SIM changes are recorded on the asset, next to the identifiers and orders that define it.

  • Asset numbers with serial, IMEI 1, IMEI 2, ICCID, and EID on each record
  • IMEI validation: 15 digits, check digit, and uniqueness
  • Purchase order, sales order, work order, warehouse, and device management profile on the asset

SIM associations

Every SIM tied to the right device.

Assign or change the SIM on an asset by its full ICCID. SIM inventory keeps its own status, so aging and lost SIMs are visible before they cause a problem.

  • Assign, unassign, and reassign SIMs as devices move
  • ICCID format checks using carrier-specific prefix and length rules
  • SIM statuses: Available, Assigned, Aging, Terminated, and Lost
  • SIM and stock transfers between locations

Returns and buyback

Returns with a record.

Customers start a return from their order and, once it is approved, print their own carrier return label. When the device arrives, the inspection is stored on the asset, so you know the state of everything that comes back, and what a trade-in is worth.

Return requests and labels on the platform

Returns and RMA

  • Customer return requests, approval, and self-service carrier return labels
  • Inspection result and identifier check against the asset
  • Condition recorded as New, Open Box, Pre-Owned, or Refurbished
  • Accessories included, data wipe complete, activation lock cleared, management lock cleared
  • What happens next: Restock, Refurbish, Repair, Recycle, Return to Customer, and more

Buyback and trade-in

  • Questionnaire with functional checks and identifiers and locks
  • Estimated value at submission, final value after inspection
  • Revised offers the customer accepts before finalization
  • Buyback Operations statuses from Submitted to Paid

Recover

Lost, returned, or retired, the record stays.

The end of an assignment is not the end of the record. Recovery, reassignment, and retirement all happen on the same asset that was ordered, fulfilled, and managed.

  4. 4

    Recover

Return, reassign, or retire devices with a complete record of each asset.

    • Returns
    • Reassignment
    • Retirement
  • Device recovery

Mark an asset Lost or Stolen. Lost mode is handled through your managed device service, with the result recorded on the asset.

  • Reassignment

Reassign returned devices to a new contact, or move assets between organizations, once inspection is recorded.

  • Data-wipe records

Inspection records whether the data wipe is complete. Enrolled devices can also be wiped through the managed device service.

  • Retirement

Mark assets Retired or Recycled. Each one keeps its full status history, identifiers, and order links.

Outcomes

What a complete record makes possible.

  • 01

    Accountability

Know who has each device, which SIM is in it, and what happened to it.

  • 02

    Cleaner returns

Inspection results are recorded before devices are reassigned.

  • 03

    Recovered value

Trade-in valuation for devices you no longer need.

  • 04

    Lasting history

Retired and recycled devices keep their full record.

  • 05

    Fewer receiving errors

IMEI and TAC checks catch mismatched units before they enter stock.

  • 06

    SIMs accounted for

SIM statuses show which SIMs are available, aging, or lost.

FAQ

Questions about asset lifecycle.

How assets, returns, trade-ins, and retirement work in Claddio.

Each unit gets an asset number when it is received against a purchase order, after its IMEI passes TAC verification so the SKU is right from the start. Fulfillment then links its serial and IMEI to the order line it ships against, and every status, contact, and SIM change is recorded on the same asset.

Asset number, serial number, IMEI 1, IMEI 2, the ICCID of the associated SIM, and EID. IMEIs are validated for 15 digits, the check digit, and uniqueness, and the TAC identifies the make and model at receiving.

The Receive Return Item inspection records the inspection result, an identifier check, the item's condition, and what happens next, such as Restock, Refurbish, Repair, or Recycle. A checklist records whether accessories are included, the data wipe is complete, and activation lock and management lock are cleared.

Submit a buyback with a questionnaire covering functional checks and identifiers and locks to get an estimated value. After the device is received and inspected, the final value is confirmed. If it differs, the customer accepts a revised offer before the buyback is finalized and paid.

Yes. Mark the asset Lost or Stolen. For devices enrolled in device management, lost mode is handled through your managed device service, and the result is recorded on the asset.

Yes. After inspection, reassign a returned device to a new contact or move it to another organization. Its status history stays with it, so the next assignment starts with a complete record.

Mark them Retired or Recycled. The asset keeps its full status history, identifiers, and order links.
